Department Statement | The Office of Conference Services and Summer Programs oversees camps, conferences, and other external rentals at Colgate University. The office works with campus partners to manage logistics including housing, dining, and facility setup; assure compliance with campus policies and state and local regulations; and minimize disruptions to the regular operations of the University. This position provides an opportunity to become familiar with the variety of regular positions that are available at the University, as well as the ability to add employment at a distinct University to your resume. Successful candidates for this position will earn sick leave, paid time off, free parking, and a University ‘Gate Card that provides access to fitness facilities, athletic and cultural events, as well as a discount on many items at the University Bookstore. This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service. |
Accountabilities | Summer Health Assistants work with the Summer Health Director to supervise the health and sanitation for several summer programs operating at Colgate University. They act as liaisons to the Madison County Department of Health by maintaining all medical paperwork and reporting incidents as they arise, including days, nights, and weekends. Summer Health Assistants assist with health screenings, the supervision of medication administration, and the maintenance of confidential medical histories. They respond to emergencies, make referrals to Community Memorial Hospital, report incidents to the Madison County Department of Health, and maintain a daily medical log. |
Requirements
Professional Experience/ Qualifications | Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must be capable of working professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis. |

Preferred Qualifications | |
Education | Must be certified in New York State as one of the following: a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or emergency medical technician, in addition to having a current certificate in Responding to Emergencies first aid and a current CPR certification not exceeding one year in duration. |
Physical Requirements | Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds. |
