Failure Analysis Engineer, Principal

The Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for analyzing optoelectronic component samples to determine root cause of their failure. Review and analysis of the current data, historical production data, and quality data will be necessary. Collaboration and interaction with different Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Fab Engineering teams will be necessary. Conclusion of the analysis work is summarized as a report documenting the findings which provides the basis for driving corrective action. The qualified candidate will be required to provide Analysis Plans and oversight of analysis for multiple projects at the same time. This will involve use of various state-of-the-art analytical tools, processing the acquired data and information sets to arrive at a conclusion regarding the cause of failure.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate electrical, thermal, optical characteristics of optoelectronic components to determine root cause of failure.
  • Analyze failure reports and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems.
  • Identify optimum analytical approaches critical to problem solving.
  • Consult on other project issues where analysis techniques may be beneficial.
  • Perform analysis work in a timely manner.
  • Participate in use of new analytical tools, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to report corrective actions to customers


Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in usage of common bench tools such as micro-probe, parametric analyzer, optical microscope, curve tracers, etc.
  • Understands analysis techniques such as SEM, TEM, X-Ray (2D and 3D). Hands on experience preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools used for analysis
  • Theoretical knowledge of device operation in its application.
  • Minimum BS degree in Science or Engineering plus 2 years of experience. Masters or PhD preferred
