Job Summary:

Belden is currently seeking a Test Lab Technician. This position will work in the R&D Engineering Lab and will be responsible for testing the electrical, mechanical, and environmental parameters or a wide range of fiber optical and coaxial products. This is an onsite position located at the East Syracuse, NY manufacturing facility and reports to the Lab Manager.

You will make a difference in thefollowing ways:

• Tests prototype product for electrical performance, mechanical performance, and durability.
• Tests products environmental parameters; including Ultra Violet, Salt fog, vibration, thermal cycling.
• Assists with equipment set-up, lab configurations, equipment troubleshooting as well as implementing and following test lab processes.
• Assists with the documentation, calibration, troubleshooting and/or preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
• Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, printouts and specifications as needed to complete tests to determine the functionality and performance of products.
• Operates test device through prescribed sequences, reads and records test data, informing supervisor of deviations or variations not indicated or anticipated.

What you bring:

• Education and Experience: Two year technical degree or equivalent certification with minimum two (2) years of experience within an electrical or fiber optic technician focused role.
• Knowledge & Skills: Validation test lab environment experience with optical, mechanical and electronic systems, including setting up tests within environmental chambers preferred.
• Knowledge & Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize precision hand tools.

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $43,300 - $65,000 annually,plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
