Overview

Employed by PAGNY for NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and trains their medical students and OBGYN residents.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required

Responsibilities

NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County is looking for a Medical Director of Substance Use Disorders Services and Integrated Ambulatory Behavioral Health to provide clinical leadership towards program development, integration, and daily operations and of Adult Ambulatory Services across the Behavioral Health continuum in collaboration with Senior Leadership and the Chief of Service.

    Is responsible for the vision and overall direction of the various clinical, administrative, and educational activities in the Division of Substance Use Disorders Services.
  1. Provides supervision to Clinical Director and Medical Directors of Substance Use Disorders Services.
  2. Collaborates with Behavioral Health Senior Leadership and Chief of Service to provide oversight of Adult Integrated Ambulatory Behavioral Health clinical projects and operations including:
    • Integration of Behavioral Health into Primary Care and Specialty Medical Services
    • Integration of Primary Care into Behavioral Health
    • Ambulatory and Inpatient Consult Liaison Services
  3. Supervises Medical Director of Behavioral Health Medical Service in collaboration with Chief of Service.
  4. Supervises Medical Director of Integrated Care Services in collaboration with Chief of Service.
  5. Maintains focus of key strategic priorities including patient experience, access to care, increased market share, and improving financial stability
  6. Participate in division department, hospital-wide corporate and community committees and
  7. Other duties assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical School
  • Current license to practice Medicine in the State of New York
  • Completed training in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Addiction Psychiatry
  • Board certification in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Addiction Psychiatry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
