Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Geographic Discipline Leader with significant Water / Wastewater experience in the Syracuse, NY area. The individual must be a self-starter with an extensive business and agency network in the region, fully capable of leading business and client development in order to foster and grow Colliers Engineering & Design business in the area. Strong technical experience will also be a requirement since the position requires the individual to manage, direct, and supervise the work efforts of assigned staff and coordinate the technical and managerial direction provided by management regarding scope, schedule, quality and budget of projects.

Water and wastewater management presents unique challenges from environmental, health and economic issues, to regulatory concerns. Responsibilities

Business Lead Water / Wastewater:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Colliers engineering & Design capabilities in order to present these to clients and prospective clients.
  • Participate in strategy sessions with Colliers management in order to define, develop, and secure Water /Wastewater opportunities in the Syracuse area.
  • Prepare a business plan that utilizes the individuals' and Colliers Engineering & Design industry and client relationships to target work opportunities.
  • Ability to develop new business and follow up on new business opportunities.
  • Perform client management duties and also participate in business development efforts.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
  • Fulfill role of Client Manager.
  • Regular contact with professional engineering consultants, governmental agencies, involved communities and contractors in connection with marketing efforts and the planning, design, and permitting of water and wastewater projects.

Geographic Discipline Leader (Technical) Water / Wastewater:

  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy the client as well as control work and productivity.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process for assigned water and wastewater design projects.
  • Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute engineering methods for water and wastewater designs.
  • Preparation of engineering calculations, plans, specifications, technical papers, and permit applications for water and wastewater pipe, pumping, and treatment facilities.
  • Responsible for planning, designing and providing guidance in the development of water supply, transmission, and distribution projects.
  • Develops and reviews conceptual drawings related to infrastructure design.
  • Develops and reviews construction documents and specifications.
  • Responsible for studies, preparing designs, and contract documents for wastewater and water supply infrastructure projects.
  • Review of utility connection applications for municipal and utility authority clients.
  • Perform all client management duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, or civil engineering.
  • PE license is required.
  • Experience with permitting with NY DOH and DEC is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in the water / wastewater industry in the Syracuse area, with a focus on relationships in the water / wastewater industry: local government, county government, federal and state agencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage clients and develop new business.
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment plant process and design.
  • Knowledge in permitting requirements and processes for water / wastewater collection and treatment projects.
  • Ability to build a talented team of water /wastewater professionals that are experts in their field.

Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 DOQ.
