Responsibilities

Summary
The Tax Intern will assist members of the tax department with the preparation of workpapers, documentation, process improvements, and tax research. In addition, this position will assist with the evaluation, testing, and implementation of tax technology tools associated with certain process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with Microsoft office software technology. This position will also assist with other administrative aspects supporting the tax function.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Tax Intern prepares, updates, and maintains certain workpapers and documentation supporting various functions within the tax department.
  • Assists with certain tax research assignments.
  • The Tax Intern works with tax team members on process improvement initiatives, which may involve utilizing, evaluating, testing, and implementing existing and new tax technology tools and initiatives with the goal of improving efficiency and maintaining accuracy of certain tax functions.
  • Assists with other administrative functions within the tax department
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in college with a major in Tax, Accounting, Business Administration or Finance field and have completed at least 30 (thirty) semester credit hours.
  • Microsoft office software experience is required. Prior tax or accounting experience and data management software (such as Alteryx) is preferred.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively comprehend assignments and complete within prescribed parameters and timing.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside the department.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and exercise judgment.
  • Keen interest in technology and its application in tax processes.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
