The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) enables faculty and students to conceive, develop, deliver, and scale new and innovative technologies by supporting modes of collaboration that align with Engineering's research and education priorities. I&E deepens the societal and commercial impact of the Cornell Engineering research and education enterprise. I&E tracks, leads, and grows Engineering's strategic corporate, foundation, entrepreneurial, and government relationships that accelerate research and development (R&D) in Engineering Priority Research Directions intersecting with societal grand challenges as outlined in the 2030 College of Engineering Strategic Plan. I&E leads, supports, and grows lab-to-market pathways through grants, centers, and innovation hubs. I&E rigorously measures and communicates societal impact of Engineering's research and education enterprise and advances Engineering's educational mission at all levels to produce entrepreneurship-ready engineers.

The Director collaborates with the University Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy (UFRCP) and the Office of the Vice President of Research and Innovation (OVPRI) to cultivate corporate and foundation prospects for priority programs and projects. The Director works with faculty and senior staff on the development and submission of proposals. The Director plans the involvement of other University officials such as the dean and associate dean in corporate and foundation solicitation activities.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Innovation, the Director of Strategic Partnerships advises and works closely with the Associate Dean of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the Executive Director of Innovation on all matters relating to corporate and foundation strategic partnerships, including the maintenance and expansion of relationships with existing and prospective partners.
The Director of Strategic Partnerships has responsibility for conceiving, planning, and implementing Engineering's external relations and development strategies designed to increase corporate engagement, with a focus on growing Engineering's sponsored research portfolio and closing on complex, scientific opportunities in the $1M to $10M range.
The Director maintains these relationships to create cross-campus, large-scale program portfolios with high potential for impact that will attract corporate and foundation partners of interest. The Director leads executive-level event planning strategy and provides direction to event planning staff on logistics for high-profile. The Director leads the development of outreach and marketing strategies and cultivation of opportunities to increase Engineering's corporate and foundation involvement in scientific activities.
The Director implements and regularly uses standard business analytics software to track, identify, and prioritize opportunities and to inform outreach and marketing strategies. The Director defines and promotes the Cornell Engineering Innovation brand. The Director provides an understanding of and support for programs that complement the strategic goals of corporate and foundation partners and prospects to both external and internal stakeholders.
